This felted duffel bag can carry your yoga mat to your next session. It’s constructed to fit the most basic mat, advanced users with heavier mats can easily adapt this pattern by adding length.

I designed this for yogi that needed a hands-free way to carry their mat from session to their next adventure. Its simple construction provides an avenue for artists to truly express themselves by adding flair via needle felting, embroidery, or painting.

You can purchase the pattern from Ravelry for $1.99 or follow the pattern below for free. I’ve included affiliate links for supplies you may need.

-Pattern Notes-

Inspired by a bowman’s quiver, this duffel provides a quick store and carry option for the busy yogi. Each piece is knit & felted individually, and then sewn together. To construct the appropriately sized
strap, measure diagonally across your chest from shoulder to waist and add 3” [7.5cm], 1” [2.5cm] for seams and the other 2” [5cm] for vertical shrinkage and girth.

Alternatively, you may felt a flat piece of 9”x9” [23x23cm] in stockinette and cut a circle for the
sides rather than creating a circle.

-Finishing-

Felt pieces separately. Stretch circles out with blocking pins to obtain a flat piece. Cut 8” [20.3cm] circles from sides using attached document. Trim as needed. Make sure to your body piece is 21” [53.3cm] by 26” [66cm], cut if necessary. Sew in zipper. Fold straps lengthwise and sew together. Pull RS out & pin to end with a strap inside duffel cylinder, baste ends in place. For a no-seam appearance, fold strap with the seam in the center, then baste in place with the seam facing the RS of the duffel cylinder. Sew ends with straps in place, pleating evenly around as needed for a flat end. Unzip & pull RS out.
